We argue, first, that frontline human resource managers are typically given insufficient training and support. We base that assertion on the limited, available research and on our personal experience. We argue, second, that training for employee counseling should include equity theory. We develop that claim by illustrating how equity theory can be applied in several real (but disguised) cases. Finally, we call for research on employee counseling as a business communication event and on equity theory as an effective tool for employee counseling.
|
