In the literature of the Arab world, the feminine expression which approaches sexuality, intimacy, denounces taboos and prohibitions, raises itself against abuses as well as social and religious pressures, is considered as a strong and committed voice. This is the case of the Lebanese writer Evelyne Accad. The present study clearly shows Accad’s courage in dealing with a serious subject in her novel the excised and tackling it in an audacious way. The writer offers an act of indictment and liberation in a form of a premature born and harrowing love story between a Christian woman and a Muslim man, with a backdrop Lebanon and a fratricidal war as a context. |
