W trosce o rodzinę w mediach [The family care in media]

Nowadays, in the beginning of the third millennium family faces many challenges in the media and information age. New challenges, opportunities and dangers to family, its value, dignity and vocation come out especially in the area of the mass media influence. The importance and meaning of media dangers to family still seem to be of little value not only in the media, but also in the awareness of contemporary families. Therefore, it seems that the problem of the media influence on family’s good is a current issue which requires discussion. What is more, it can and ought to become the subject of scientific analyses. Today the media increase the space and intensity of communication as well as its quality and rapidity. But they do not cross out its essence, that is human ability to communicate “between minds and hearts”, which above all takes place in every family living nowadays in the media space. Therefore, the activity of the media is even more needed. It should be based on the respect for human and his/her spiritual dignity and it should also decrease the sphere of evil and increase the sphere of good. The central task of the media is and will be to serve human person and family in a responsible way, build the community based on justice and love as well as tell the truth about human life and his/her transcendent aim. The media which respond to challenges and needs of contemporary civilization in a different way should build and support family, not destroy family life. The aim of the presented publication is to help the media fulfill this mission towards family.
