<p>"Finding a Family, Finding a Voice" explains how and why a paradigm shift occurred in Professor Bloom's way of teaching new TAs to teach writing. The three crises, one life-threatening, two institutional, that converged at the beginning of the semester freed Bloom from teaching conventionally. In the two months the class had changed, utterly, from students in the process of reading about teaching in order to teach writing, to students in the process of becoming writers in order to teach writing. As students and teacher became a family, a community of writers, each person in that community found a voice.</p>
