Professor Lambert served as adviser to the campus chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) for 24 years and was a member of SPJ's national professional development committee for 8 years. Professor Shanahan had been assistant director for student affairs at the school and had taught various journalism classes, including reporting skills and journalistic ethics.
