Cinematic structures in literature have generally been examined from the perspective of intermediality theory, thereby neglecting some particular features of cinematic narrative. The author develops an analytic model based on narratology and sensitivity to context, offering insights into the typological spectrum of cinematic narrative and its history from the 19th century until the present day.

Filmische Strukturen in der Literatur sind bislang primär aus intermedialitätstheoretischer Sicht untersucht worden, ohne dabei allerdings die Spezifik des Erzählens hinreichend zu berücksichtigen. Der Autor entwickelt ein narratologisch fundiertes, kontextsensitives Analysemodell und vermittelt Einsichten in das typologische Spektrum filmischen Erzählens wie auch in dessen Geschichte vom 19. Jh. bis zur Gegenwart.
