<jats:p>Gosho Heinosuke (1902-1982) directed almost 100 films from the late 1920s -- 1968, but only 40 survive. Arthur Nolletti Jr.’s recently released The Cinema of Gosho Heinosuke: Laughter Through Tears offers an insightful appraisal of the work of this important -- and yet too long overlooked --Japanese film director.</jats:p> |
