<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p> <jats:italic>Blow-Up</jats:italic> entails rhetorical doublings of action and medium that attend to the material processes of cinema: sampled images, re/photography, editing, the re/animation of 'life' on-screen by using found footage separated from its original function in a meditative demonstration of the realist assumption that lies at the foundation of motion pictures.</jats:p>
