In this text I am (re)questioning the ways in which the others are represented in culture, or more generally, regarding the relationship between alterity and culture. This relation is to such an extent charged with the requisites of political correctness that we are very often unwilling to engage in thinking this topic, assuming that our contribution will be yet another of those works which start from the same premises only to arrive at the same or similar conclusions. Such a twofold uneasiness – on the one hand, there is a set of unwillingly asked questions and, on the other, the always already in advance offered answers - constitutes one of the most important motives to explore this problem. |
