The Influence of John Paul II on Clandestine Publications from 1978 to 1983 in Lithuania After John Paul II was elected Head of Roman Catholic Church, the Vatican policy towards the socialist bloc changed. John Paul II was the person coming from that world, well aware of the life in the socialist system. The fact that his activity was successful is proved by the fact of national movement in Poland and the attempt on his life. The year 1980 was marked by spiritual upsurge which manifested itself by almost doubled publications of clandestine literature. They started publishing the biographies of John Paul II, his sermons and encyclics which made enormous influence on the spiritual and public life of Lithuanians.
