The article presents the changes that have taken place in relations between the Roma and non-Roma in the mountain village of Ochotnica Górna over the last quarter of a century. In addition to a clear improvement in the living conditions of the whole village, even more marked in the Roma housing estate, changes have occurred that can be defined as a form of spatial separation. There is a fence surrounding the settlement, accompanied by a camera system. The local Roma have also appropriated a newly-built bridge and path along the river. A sentiment of animosity is growing among both the majority population and the Roma minority in the village. Have the Polish and European integration programs operating for many years also had an opposite, unintended effect?
