The article problematizes questions about the feminine body in feminist theories, referring to women practicing philosophy, and considering the absence of women in the philosophical tradition. The concept of self-colonization, usually used in relation to cultures and nations, is here transferred to a consideration of the category of the subject. To paraphrase Aleksandra Kiosseva on the self-colonization of cultures, it is assumed here that the woman-philosopher is “a symbol of lack”, trying to apply a “foreign model of value” in her thinking about the subject and in practicing philosophy. In wishing to be a philosopher, she is faced with the original colonization enacted by the philosophical tradition, in which she is not recognized as either rational, nor as a subject capable of self-reflection, nor as an entity that as an agent can practice philosophy authentically.
