Sava Dobroplodni (1820-1894) is undoubtedly one of the key figures to have shaped the nature of the XIX century Bulgarian National Revival. He was an educator, translator, author of school textbooks, pioneer of theatre in Bulgaria and regular press contributor. Towards the end of his life, he was also the editor and publisher of the journal „New Bulgarian Bee.“ Although the style of the journal may appear antiquated from a contemporary perspective, it provides insights into both the personality of its publisher and some peculiar features of XIX century Bulgarian society.
