The Russian intentions to annex the two Romanian Principalities to the Romanov Empire have remained constant, given the increase in the French influence in Constantinople, and the modification of the Romanian Principalities status, in the sense of annexing Moldavia and Wallachia, became of interest at the beginning of the 19th century.
