<label>ABSTRACT</label> <p>In the period from 1910 to 1913, Sarah Bernhardt embraced several media forms: vaudeville, the phonograph, motion pictures, and the newspaper (as a columnist). A well-known opponent of women's suffrage, she changed her mind and became its strong advocate during the course of her 1912–13 American vaudeville tour. Both phenomena contributed to the transformation of her cultural persona and revitalized her career.</p> |
